Today we cook something delicious, namely a schnitzel in onion cream sauce. This is really tasty and also made quickly and the most important thing besides the really excellent taste is that you can get fed with it also a whole team, because you can simply take a larger form and more schnitzel and already you are the "HERO OF THE KITCHEN"!
So let's get to the ingredients you'll need to prepare it:
- 2-4 cutlets
- 1 vegetable onion / butcher's onion
- 200 ml cream
- 2-4 teaspoons of crème fraîche, to taste.
- 100 g grated mozzarella
- OPTIONAL: 20 g grated cheddar cheese
- 2 cloves garlic or 1/2 tsp of my garlic paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 tsp marjoram or oregano, both have something to them
- for the optics: some chopped parsley
As already mentioned, you can of course also extrapolate this accordingly. With the spices I would be perhaps at the beginning a little sparingly, would taste and if necessary add more.
And here we go:
- Flatten the cutlets a little and pepper & salt from both sides.
- Peel the onion, halve it and cut it into 1/2 rings.
- If you have a good frying pan, fry the cutlets briefly on both sides without adding fat, so that they get some color. If you have an older pan, add a little oil. The cutlets are NOT COOKED THROUGH but ONLY SHORTLY FRIED!
- Put the cutlets on the side and add the onion to the pan and fry until lightly browned, tossing frequently.
- Once the onions have reached the desired browning level, we first add the cream, then the creme fraiche. This is brought to the boil briefly, then we reduce the heat and just let this continue to simmer gently.
- This is a good opportunity to preheat the oven to 180°.
- Now we add the spices: garlic, salt, bell pepper, paprika, marjoram or oregano and let it develop its aromas on a low flame.
- Now we put the cutlets in a baking dish and pour the sauce over them. The cutlets should be completely covered by the sauce.
- The mozzarella or other cheese you like is sprinkled over the sauce.
- We bake the cutlets in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
The meal is already ready, completely homemade, you know what you have and the taste is absolutely brilliant. I recommend spaetzle or French fries. If you want to arrange the visually appealing, sprinkle a little freshly chopped parsley over the food, which offers a wonderful contrast in color and also tastes really great!
I wish you good appetite and have fun making it. If you still want to watch the video tutorial, you can find it here or directly on my Youtube channel!
